On the evening of July 1st, 2023, Senerina "Cindy" Luna-Lefebre peacefully passed away due to natural causes at Pathways Hospice in Loveland, Colorado. Cindy had recently celebrated her 91st birthday in April.
"Cindy" was born on April 22nd, 1932, in Eaton, Colorado, to Maria [Silva] and Pantaleon Luna. She was the sixth child among her 12 siblings. Although she only attended formal education up to the third grade, she continued to educate herself on various topics, which helped her remain sharp until her recent decline.
"Cindy" lived most of her life in Fort Collins, Colorado, and dedicated her working career to Colorado State University as part of the building custodial services. At the age of 55, in 1991, she chose to retire to fulfill her role as a full-time grandmother.
Music brought joy to "Cindy's" life, and she particularly loved playing the piano and accordion. For many years, she generously volunteered her time playing the piano at the Assembly of God Church on Sundays and special events. In her free time, she indulged in hobbies such as sewing, needlepoint, and crochet. Collecting Shirley Temple memorabilia was one of her special interests. "Cindy" had a deep affection for Christmas and was known for her generosity, even with her limited resources.
In addition to Severa "Vera" Trevino, "Cindy" is preceded in death by her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Irene Mora (Gabriel "Gabe" Mora) and son Benjamin "Ben" Garcia. Her grandchildren include Joseph "Joe" Mora (Holly [Graves]), Gabriel "Ray" Mora, Jessie Garcia (Diane [Sames]), and Jason Garcia. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Branden Garcia, Angel Garcia, Gabrielle Graves, Crystal Ramos, and Benjamin Autler. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
"Cindy" chose cremation as her final wishes. In lieu of flowers, a small Celebration of Life potluck will be held on July 22nd at 2:00 pm at the American Legion of Loveland, located at 305 Cleveland Avenue, Loveland, Colorado. The event will have a Mexican theme to honor her memory.
