Sarah Booth Lollar passed away on January 18, 2012, nine remarkable years after a diagnosis of ovarian cancer that only served to deepen her commitment to a full life. She liked to have things just so, yet trusted Mystery. She was a seeker whose strong opinions rested not on rigid dogma but on an ocean's worth of open-hearted questions – a gift she leaves to her family and friends. Sarah was born in 1933 to Howard Nixon Booth and Louise Livers Booth. Upon Louise's death, Sarah was taken in by Howard's brother Alfred Lee Booth and his wife Mary to raise as their own, with Howard's loving participation. When Howard later married Eleanor Joy, Sarah gained a best friend for herself and another grandmother for her children. Sarah grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri, graduated cum laude from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. While there, she met Robert Harrison Lollar, who survives her after 56 years of marriage. Bob and Sarah have three married daughters: Julie Learner with her husband Tracy of Dayton, Ohio; Cindy Lollar with her wife Greta McVey, of College Park, Maryland; and Susan Moore with her husband Joshua, of Fort Collins, Colorado. Sarah is also survived by Eleanor Joy Booth of St. Louis, Missouri. Sarah's life was buoyed by many friends and caregivers. As one writer has said, perhaps the secret of living well is not in having all the answers but in pursuing unanswerable questions in good company. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, January 28, at Plymouth Congregational Church UCC in Fort Collins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sarah's name to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund
