Sarah "Sally" Louise Lobban Decker passed away on August 27, 2017, due to complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). She was born on September 2, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Dorothy and Richard Lobban. She graduated from Greenwich High School in Connecticut in 1957 and attended Middlebury College in Vermont.

One week after graduating from Middlebury College in 1961, she married Eugene Decker and moved with him to a log cabin in Montana. As she says, "the only thing he promised me was that life with him would never be dull – and it hasn't been!" She had a kind and adventurous spirit that led her to volunteer in refugee camps in Germany in 1959, to live in Kenya with three young daughters in 1974, and to travel the world visiting her family and exploring new places.

Sally moved to Loveland with her husband about 50 years ago and became a dedicated member of the community. She loved the Rocky Mountains and to volunteer stamping envelopes at the annual Valentine Remailing Program. She also volunteered at the Loveland Visitor Center, Sculpture in the Park, at her daughters' schools, and at her church. During her time in Loveland, she was a preschool teacher, helped to run a trout fly business, and cared for many dogs and cats. She had a wonderful group of friends including her neighbors, childhood and college friends, and members of her book group.

One of her favorite sayings was, "Life is uncertain, eat dessert first." Her sourdough bread and baking is appreciated around the country. After her diagnosis, her motto became "courage and grace." She remains an inspiration and a role model to many. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Katherine Gayle, Diane Lapierre, and Martha Decker; her brother, Richard Lobban; seven grandchildren; and other loving relatives.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10am on October 21 at the Foothills Unitarian Church. Donations in her memory can be made to the Larimer Humane Society online or in person at 3501 E 71st Street, Loveland, CO 80538.
