Sandra Kay (Bradford) Freeman died peacefully on Sunday, June 26 from a brain aneurysm. She was born on June 23 in Billings, Montana to parents Elmer Bradford and Louise Leathers Bradford. Sandra was raised in Laurel, Montana and graduated from Laurel High School in 1958 after which she moved to Billings and worked at People's Finance and the Vaughn and Ragsdale department store.
The daughter of a railroader, she and her family spent summers fishing and berry picking in Yellowstone National Park. She had a great love of the outdoors and was a life-long wildlife enthusiast. She could spot a buffalo behind a tree from 600 yards!
In August 1960, Sandra married the love of her life, David Freeman, of Glendive, Montana and they began an adventurous, travel-filled life. Sandra came from a small town with big dreams; she lived beyond anything she could have ever imagined.
Over the next several years, Sandra and David lived in Pittsburgh, Washington DC and Denver before moving to Fort Collins and establishing their life-long home in 1967.
The ultimate mom, Sandra exuded a radical and passionate love for her family; her family included not only her husband and then kids and grandkids but also cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends, kids' friends and so many more.
For many years Sandra was actively involved with the International Student Association at CSU and welcomed, cared for and eased the transition of newly arrived students and their families. Her house was always open to everyone and people from around the world enjoyed her generosity, hospitality and goodwill. It wasn't uncommon for her Thanksgiving table(s) to seat 25 guests.
Sandra had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. She was an avid rock-hound and made beautiful stone jewelry featuring Montana picture jasper and moss agates. In her "spare time", Sandra gardened, sewed, embroidered and quilted-making blankets galore for all of her grandkids. She loved to read a good mystery but mostly she loved spending time with her family.
Sandra is survived by her husband, David, children: Brent (Renea) Freeman; Bradford (Sonya) Freeman; Arshi (Rob) Nisley; Bryan (Nicole) Freeman; Rebecca (Ryan) Mantz and Rakhshi Rizwani Hamid, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marlene Bradford. Sandra was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Bradford and sisters Joyce Louise Anderson and Victoria Marlene Allen.
