Ruth Schiller died peacefully in her sleep March 18, 2017, at the age of 101. She was born March 12, 1916, to parents, Clara and Theodore Schoenheit in Clarendon Hills, Illinois. Ruth endured both the hardship of the depression and the early loss of her father with characteristic strength. She married Edward Schiller. They had 3 children and built a home on three wooded acres in Oak Brook, where the family blossomed under her loving care for twenty years.
When the lush Midwestern summers folded gently into autumn, Ruth habitually volunteered in countless ways that supported the family's church, schools and organizations. While innumerable people benefited from those efforts, she also took time to play. Throughout her life, she was a creative hostess who brought friends and family together on many a happy occasion.
Retiring to Fort Collins, Ed and Ruth formed many new friendships and together pursued their common hobbies of golf, bridge, travel, and entertaining, while Ruth continued her intricate stitchery and for years volunteered for the PVH ICU.
Ruth will be interred at Fort Logan Cemetery next to Edward. At her request, there will be no service. Many thanks to friends and Columbine staff for all the care you gave Ruth during her life; upon her death, please remember her with your loving prayers.
