Russell Hamilton peacefully left this life January 27, 2010. Russ was born in Covington, Kentucky on June 2, 1932 to the late Mildred and Jesse Hamilton. He was educated and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He enlisted in the Army and served as a medic in the Korean War. He began his art studies at Midland College and Bellevue College in Nebraska. He graduated from the Minneapolis Art Instruction School in 1966, and since that time he has devoted his full time to a career in Fine Art. His love of the mountains led him to the Rocky Mountain region, living in both Wyoming and Colorado. Russ Hamilton was a dedicated artist whose love for his chosen profession is apparent in his paintings. Russ' paintings are brilliantly colored and beautifully composed. His work encompasses miniature paintings to life-size murals. His paintings are represented in private collections world wide and in galleries across the country. He has also participated in Art Festivals and private showings throughout the Midwest and Rocky Mountain region. Russ was a charter member of the American First Day Cover Society with collectors all across the United States of his hand-drawn, hand-painted cachets. He married Wilma Goering in San Francisco, California and raised their family in Fremont, Nebraska. Wilma preceded him in death. Russ is survived by his loving companion of 22 years Barbara Anderson; his 3 sons, Mark wife, Ginger, Brad wife, Liz, and Brian wife, Amy all of Nebraska; brothers, Larry Hamilton and David Hamilton both of Cincinnati, Ohio; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Poudre Valley Hospital for their loving care and support. A Funeral Service for Russ will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held at Grandview Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Russell A. Hamilton Art Scholarship in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
