Rudolpho Rudy A. Maes passed away Sept. 14, 2006 at Poudre Valley Hospital, Fort Collins. He was born March 29, 1933 to Jose Louis and Maria Carmela Romero Maes in Aguilar. He was in the armed forces with the 81st artillery and the 110th Signal Corps. He was a longtime member of Holy Family Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Lion's Club and the local VFW. He was known as "Rudy the Barber" and was very active and inspirational in his church and community. He also served on the Fort Collins Library Board. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Raymond, Joseph and Leonard Maes. Survivors include sisters, Cora, Annie, Margaret and Virginia; sons, Patrick, Michael, John, David and Tomas Maes; his special cousin, Michael Romero, many grandchildren; a great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Rudy will be deeply missed by all he interacted with and his family would like to thank all the wonderful friends who supported him throughout the years. Rosary and Mass of celebration including Military Honors with the Fort Collins All Veterans Honor Guard will be at Holy Family Church, 326 Whitcomb St. at 10 a.m. Friday. Please come and share your stories and memories. The Rev. Damian de la Cruz will officiate the service. Those who desire may view Mr. Maes Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rudy Maes Memorial Fund, in care of Bohlender Funeral Home.
