Ruby lost her courageous battle with cancer and left this Earth to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 14, 2006, and is now singing karaoke with the angels. She was born in Fort Collins on June 21, 1951, to Roy and Dolores Duran. She attended Holy Family Catholic Church and graduated from Poudre High School in 1969. Ruby worked as a property manager for various companies, most recently at All Property Services Inc. in Fort Collins while raising her two sons, Mario and Adam. Ruby was a member of the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of the Northern Colorado Apartment Association, served on the board of the Fort Collins Chapter of the Colorado Apartment Association and received many awards. Ruby was greatly loved by her family and friends and was the type of person who loved people and cherished life. She especially enjoyed participating in her sons' school and sports events and never missed an activity they were involved in. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing karaoke with her family and friends. She loved motorcycle riding and driving her beloved Ford Mustang convertible. Ruby was a gourmet cook and enjoyed sharing her special dishes with others. She had a gift for making people laugh and always put others first. Ruby is survived by two sons, Mario Chavez, of Lone Tree, and Adam Chavez, of Seattle; her parents, Roy and Dolores Duran, of Fort Collins; brother, Roy Duran Jr., of Fort Collins, and preceded in death by Daniel Duran; sisters, Genevieve Matthews and husband, Donald, of Woodland Park, Diana Trujillo and husband, Randy, of Loveland, and Antoinette Vigoda, of Phoenix. She leaves behind a granddaughter, Isabella Rose, and Isabella's mother, Jessica Figueroa; nieces and nephews, Brianna Spicka, Tanisha Valero, Dominique, Daniel and Vanessa Trujillo, Joel Schlauer and Roy Duran III. Other survivors include her loving friend, Andy Tyrrell, and multiple uncles, aunts, cousins and many special friends. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church.
