Rosie Cordova

Rosie Cordova fell asleep in our Lord's arms at home Aug. 4, 2007, surrounded by her family. Born in Cerro, N. M., on July 26, 1921, to Joseph and Ruth Cordova, she resided in Fort Collins most of her life. She was the eldest of 10 and attended school in Fort Collins through the sixth grade. In 1941, after helping raise her siblings, she married Philip Cordova and they had 11 children. She devoted her entire life to her family. Her wisdom, patience, and enduring perseverance will be missed. She loved camping, especially at Red Feather Lakes and Poudre River Campgrounds. She enjoyed being outdoors and added fishing and gardening to her hobbies. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and rock collecting from her outdoor excursions. She also loved attending local cultural, church and community events. She is survived by her 11 children, Conrad, Alvin, Joseph, Robert, Steven, Theresa, Alan, Patrick, Cheryl, Leonard, and Andrew. She has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Sammy and Moses Cordova and sisters, Frances Gallegos, Marie Lucero, and Vi Esparza. She had a special place in hearts of her cousins, nephews, and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Manuel and Art Cordova, sisters, Patsy Lopez and Josie Petitt and grandson, Eric Cordova. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Bohlender Funeral Home at 121 W. Olive Street. A rosary and funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Family Church, 326 N. Whitcomb St., Fort Collins. Donations may be made to Larimer County Hospice.
