Rose Kaltenberger

December 26, 1923 — May 20, 2017

Listen to Obituary
Rose (Altergott) Kaltenberger went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 20th, 2017. Born to Mike and Margret Altergott on December 26th, 1923 in Windsor, Colorado. She was 93 years old. Rose's courageous Father and Mother left Russia to come to the United States. They settled in the Windsor area of Colorado and invested their lives, their toil and hard work, into farming. They grew beans, hay, corn, barley, and beets and raised cattle. Rose met and married another hard working farmer, Henry Kaltenberger on April 14, 1944. Together they had two sons, Henry Dennis Kaltenberger and Robert Dean Kaltenberger.
Henry, Rose and the two boys farmed for many years but left the farm in 1971. It was at that point Rose began a more than 30 year career at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins CO. She was a full-time employee for most of that time, and once retired, worked as a volunteer for more than 20 years. Rose and Henry and their sons were members of Front Range Baptist Church in Fort Collins, CO and later Gateway Baptist Church in Loveland CO. Rose was known for her warmth, her laughter, her wit and quickness, her competitiveness when playing board games, her way of always having the last word, and most of all, her fierce love and loyalty for family and friends. She is preceded in death by both her parents, by her brothers, Herman and Phillip, and her three sisters, Katie, Bertha, and Helen. Also preceding her in death was her dear and beloved husband, Henry Kaltenberger, and her oldest son, Henry Dennis Kaltenberger. Rose is survived by her second son, Robert D Kaltenberger and his wife and Rose's faithful caretaker, Debbie. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nancy (Kaltenberger) Henkener and her three grandchildren, Michael Wade Kaltenberger, Matthew Wayne and Dana Kaltenberger, and Mandy Michelle and Brad Shaffer, and four great-grandchildren, Jacob Matthew Kaltenberger, Gabrielle Rose Kaltenberger, Joshua Michael Kaltenberger, and Barrett William Shaffer.
