Rose Chacon

Rose Marie Chacon, 77, of Fort Collins, died April 30, 2008, at Poudre Valley Hospital. Mrs. Chacon was born Oct. 29, 1930, in Torrez to Candido Vigil and Carmen Vallegos Vigil. She graduated from Monte Vista High School in 1949. Rose married James H. Chacon Sr. from Alamosa on Feb. 11, 1966, in Monte Vista. They moved to Fort Collins from Monte Vista in 1967. She was a nurse's aide at Poudre Valley Hospital from 1969 to 1985. Rose was a member at Timberline Church and a devout Christian, who loved reading her Bible. She also was a member of the Primetimers at Timberline. Rose loved watching game shows and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed her family and her grandchildren. She was famous for her homemade tortillas. Survivors include her sons, James Chacon and his wife, Esmeralda, Charles Chacon, Michael Chacon and his wife, Leanne all of Fort Collins; two daughters, Anna Gray and her husband, Bill of Tucson, Ariz., and Brenda Benavidez and her husband, Larry, of Fort Collins; two sisters, Sally Mae Cox, Norman, Okla., and Arlene Vigil, San Jose, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Clementina, Julie, Laura Rose, Jennifer, Misty, Kayden, and Gracie; three great-grandchildren, Carly, Cassidy and Ethan; and a sister-in-law, Velva Vigil of Denver. Preceding Rose in death are her parents, husband, and two brothers, George and Everett Vigil. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gar-dens Cemetery. Robert Martinez and Clementina Chacon will officiate at the service.
