Ronald Adam Specht, 72, of Fort Collins, died April 27, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Specht was born on November 2, 1936 in Ft. Collins to Adam Specht and Emma "Kurtz" Specht. Mr. Specht married on October 8, 1955 to Barbara Jane "Fritzler" Specht. Mr. Specht was FFA for three years. He received a full ride scholarship from Union Pacific and then entered into the US Navy as an AC2 Officer Air Traffic Controller. He was recommended for re-enlistment and received a good conduct medal. From the Navy he returned to the family farm in Ft. Collins. In 1975, Mr. Specht moved to Ault and managed feedlots for 25 years. Mr. Specht was a member of Saint Johns Lutheran Church. He worked for LaFarge, Penske, Agland and managed Sterns Feedlot. Mr. Specht enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding, family, gardening, frequent trips to Black Hawk and Central City. He was also an avid coin collector. Mr. Specht is survived by his wife Barbara, his children Ronald Keith Specht of Windsor, Vicki Lynn Wertz husband Perry Lee of Ft. Collins, sister Marlene Marie Hardy husband Pat of Grand Junction and brother James Alan Specht wife Kay of Greeley, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Specht was preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral Service will be held at Saint John's Lutheran Church, 305 E. Elizabeth, on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Military Honors Ft. Collins All Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Brian Bestian will officiate the service.
