Ronald D. Hovey

Ronald D. Hovey, 73, of Fort Collins, died September 16, 2012 at McKee Medical Center, Pathways Hospice Unit. Mr. Hovey was born February 17, 1939 in Decorah, Iowa to Clarence and Vera Hovey. Ron married Joan E. Vick on September 17, 1966 in Decorah, Iowa. They moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1970. Ron retired from Yellow Freight as a truck driver. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge #274, and the Elks Lodge #804. Survivors include his son, Jeff Hovey of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Kim Witman of Fort Collins; sister, Norma Schrandt of Cedar Falls, Iowa; five grandchildren, Miranda Minton, Nichole Skjerbek, Larry Witman, Lucie and Oliver Hovey, and four great grandchildren, Ben, Mia, Wyatt and Elijah. Preceding Ronald in death are his wife, Joan in 2003 and his son, Randy Hovey in 1984. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Stuart on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
