Roland "Oley" Olderog, 85, of Loveland, formerly of Fort Collins, died Oct. 29, 2007, at Medical Center of the Rockies, Loveland. Mr. Olderog was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Gretna, Neb., to Harry Walter Olderog and Anna Dorothea Lorenz Olderog. He graduated from high school in Springfield, Neb. Mr. Olderog received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Nebraska. Before moving to Colorado in 1950, he was employed by Western Electric and an oil exploration firm. After 1950, almost all of his tenures of employment were with the United States government. These included Rocky Mountain Arsenal, Corps of Engineers and Human Services. He was also employed for a time with Martin Marietta. Oley married Dona Jean Osman on Dec. 16, 1954, in Denver. He was an outdoorsman, an environmentalist, lover of jazz and a sports fan. He was also a bridge player and was a crossword puzzle enthusiast. Survivors include his wife, Dona Jean Olderog of Loveland; two daughters, Glenda Keller and her husband, Steve, of Fort Collins, and Kris Millard and her husband, Bob, of Loveland; and four grandchildren, Clint and Caitlin Keller and Ryan and Lana Millard. Preceding Oley in death are his parents and a sister, Arlene Gustafson. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 2000 S. Lemay Ave. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery. Pastor Michael Stadtmueller will officiate at the service.
