Roger Alan Swier passed away peacefully at his home in Loveland, Colorado on July 28, 2023. Roger was born on July 29, 1948 to William and Dorothy (Fase) Swier. He had a love of people and made it his life's mission to help others succeed. Roger volunteered his time as a youth mentor, worked to help recent immigrants earn their nursing credentials, and partnered with communities in Malawi, Africa to build wells and support local schools.
Roger preferred to live a simple life. He spent most of his time and money helping others. He helped an orphanage in Malawi, Africa build a school, provided blankets for the families, book for students, and helped fulfill many of the other needs they had. When he was not able to go back to Malawi, he started a certified nursing assistant school in the Denver, Colorado area for legal immigrants to learn a skill so they could get jobs. He helped people every place he lived--mentored youth, helped neighbors complete applications and forms they found difficult, and many other daily acts of service to others. Roger a a good listener, loved doing research and was loved by everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sisters Connie Longcore and Barbara (Curtis) Talley of Grand Haven and brother William Swier of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and many friends. No services are planned at this time.
