December 3, 1941 — November 8, 2024

Listen to Obituary
On November 8, 2024, after a long battle with dementia, Roger H. Maddocks of Fort Collins, Colorado went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was 82 years old. He passed away peacefully with his wife and children lovingly by his side.

Roger was born in West Boylston, Massachusetts on December 3, 1941. He was the son of Kathryn (Hoyt) and Herman "Bud" Maddocks who raised him in their home on 19 Crescent St. alongside his three sisters Vida, Judy, and Susan. He adopted a love for music from his mother, a talent for fishing and woodworking from his father, and a joyful competitive spirit from his three sisters.

Roger graduated from West Boylston High School in 1959 before attending Worcester Polytech Institute where he studied Chemical Engineering and later moved to Rochester, New York to work for the Eastman Kodak Company. In 1964, he married the love of his life Carole (Rocheford) Maddocks. With God's blessing, Roger and Carole had nine children, 35 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

As Roger's career took him around the world, he and Carole fell in love with the natural beauty of Colorado. In 1998, they settled their family in Fort Collins. After serving as site manager of Kodak Colorado Division and vice president of worldwide manufacturing, Roger retired from Eastman Kodak in 2004, after which time he taught business courses at the University of Northern Colorado Monfort College of Business. He retired in 2014.

He is remembered by friends and family as a humble colleague, a loving father, and a devoted husband—whose faith in God was a light for all who knew him. He opened his home to countless relatives, neighbors, friends-of-friends, church members, and even strangers off the street. He was a tireless worker, a gentle listener, and he always kept the coffee on, day or night.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Herman "Bud" Maddocks and Kathryn (Hoyt) Maddocks, and his sister Judy Goodnow.

He leaves his sisters Vida Farrar and Susan Gainley. He is survived by his wife, Carole; his children, Ron Maddocks (wife Julie), Steve Maddocks (wife Jennifer), Peter Maddocks (wife Susie), John Maddocks (wife Jennie), Deborah DeLorme (husband Adam), Elizabeth Lyon (husband Todd), Tim Maddocks (wife Erin), Dave Maddocks (wife Kamie), and Anna Hultin (husband Lander); his 35 grandchildren, and his one great-grandchild April.

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the loving care he received in his last years from Charity Kaful, Angie Barr Joseph, and the countless caregivers at Aspens memory care and Pathways hospice who provided a compassionate environment during his transition from this life to the next.

The family will hold a memorial service at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 14 at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Loveland, Colorado. A private family graveside service is to be held at 12 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A guestbook is available at www.bohlenderfuneralchapel.com where you may offer condolences or share fond memories in remembrance of Roger.
