Roger Vaughn Haas, 80, of Fort Collins, died Feb. 9, 2009 at McKee Medical Center, Pathways Hospice Unit in Loveland. Mr. Haas was born April 1, 1928 in Nemo, S. D. to Harold Haas and Elizabeth Vaughn Haas. Roger graduated from Rapid City High School and then graduated from North Central University in Minneapolis, Minn. with degree in theology. Roger married Faye Haas on August 25, 1948 in Rapid City, S. D. His family moved to Fort Collins 32 years ago. He was a minister in North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Colorado and Wisconsin. Roger was also a youth minister, nursing home chaplain, and administrator, who especially enjoyed ministering on a one on one basis. He enjoyed singing, playing the clarinet and piano, riding motorbikes, flying and was a great handyman. He especially enjoyed playing with his kids and grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Faye Haas of Fort Collins; a son, Jon Haas and his wife, Esther of Fort Collins; one daughter, Lynn Ross and her husband, Bob of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Ellen Dahlberg of Rapid City, S. D. and Florence Antholz of Atwood, Kan.; six grandchildren, Matthew Haas, Ja'Nae Osgood, Amanda Haas all of Fort Collins, Cheryl Hale, Marianne Bray, and LeaAnne Smith of Kansas City, Mo.; and five great-grandsons. Preceding Roger in death are his parents; two brothers; and a sister. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Timberline Church, 2908 Timberline Rd. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Friday at Grandview Cemetery. Pastor Monty Knobel will officiate at the services.
