Listen to Obituary
Roger passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 10, 2012. Even though we are sad that his journey here on earth is over, we know that this world was not his destination and he is again singing and surrounded by family, friends and angels in heaven. Born into the loving home of Walson and Flo Clark on May 31, 1950 in Marshall, Arkansas. Roger was the second oldest of five children. Growing up time was spent between Kansas during the school year and Arkansas in the summers. Roger loved the buckaroo life style from a young age reading lots of books from authors like Will James, Charles M. Russell and many more on horses and cowboys. When his father joined the school district he also joined the R.A.F.T and he was able to get his first horse and as it can be said, that was all she wrote. His buckaroo life had officially begun. Roger met his future wife Kathy when they both worked at W.R. Grace & Company. Roger was a warehouse worker and Kathy was the secretary. As fate would have it they met and fell in love and were married on February 21, 1975 in Wichita, Kansas. They remained married and in love for 37 years. In February of 1976 they welcomed their first child, a daughter Christie and in March of 1979 a son, Russell who was named after Roger's favorite cowboy artist Charles M. Russell. In 1990 Roger and his family moved to Colorado where he lived out the rest of his exciting life. Roger was a beloved teacher, friend, mentor and good hand. He taught many to rope, ride, braid, work cattle and the importance of patience although not all have the patience that he did. Roger worked at R.E Hunn Leather Company in Augusta, Kansas and when his family moved to Colorado Roger went to work for Mark Howes at Double H Saddle Shop in Fort Collins, Colorado. After many years at Double H Saddle Shop he became the co-founder of Box Bar Cross with his friend Carol Sabey. Roger's life inspired many to reach for that extra little bit inside them to be a little better. His journey here is over, however; the ripples of his life and thoughts will be felt for years to come. Faith, family, friends and horses shaped Rogers life. He will be missed by his wife, children, three grandchildren; mother, three brothers and one sister. Roger has gone home to see again his father, grandparents and nephew. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Roger Clark Memorial Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
