Roger Brooks, 47, of Fort Washakie was called home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2014 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. Roger was born August 16, 1966 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Ray and Polly Brooks. He had one sister, Carlotta. Roger moved with his family to Fort Washakie at age 7. He attended Fort Washakie School and graduated from Lander Valley High School in 1984. He attended Central Wyoming College and Oklahoma Baptist University. He was employed by the Calvary Chapel in Albuquerque, New Mexico in his younger years. Other jobs included working at H&R Block in Lander; he also worked as a substitute teacher. During his high school years, Roger won the Stars of Tomorrow contest held in Lander, Wyoming. He participated in band in high school, and was a member of a Christian music band while attending Oklahoma Baptist University. Roger loved music, entertaining and Christian fellowship. He liked performing music with his dad. He enjoyed it when his parents hosted Youth Works every summer. Roger was a warm, friendly person who never met a stranger. He was always a positive inspiration to everyone he met. We will miss this happy gentle man. Roger is survived by his parents, Ray and Polly Brooks of Fort Washakie; and his sister, Carlotta Brooks of Seattle, Washington. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Utah, New York, Ontario, Canada, Arizona and Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Mabel Brooks of New York; and his maternal grandparents, John Wesley LaForme and Olive Muriel LaForme of Canada. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held later this spring.
