Rod Person

Rod Person - son, husband and father - passed away Feb. 20, 2007, after a long but courageous battle with cancer. Although short, Rod lived a full, meaningful and loved life. Rod was born Jan. 24, 1962, in Kimball, Neb., and grew up on a farm and ranch in Albin, Wyo. He graduated from Albin High School in 1980. He attended Laramie County Community College, studying auto tech and business. He received and maintained his ASE Master certification. In 1982, he married his high school sweetheart, Alison Holland of Cheyenne. They moved to Denver for a brief time before returning to Wyoming to operate their own Texaco Station. Rod then accepted a position with AAA Auto Club where he worked for them in various positions for more than 20 years, leaving his career as director of district offices due to his illness. In addition to his full-time career, Rod and Alison expanded his love for farming and ranching by purchasing a horse boarding establishment in 1997 in Fort Collins. Rod loved classic and muscle cars as well as old tractors. He especially loved spending time with his family, traveling and exploring new areas. Rod was a cherished gift from God and true gentlemen. We shall miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Alison; daughters, Megan and Sarah; his father, Lawrence and stepmother, Carolyn of Burns; Jo Person Richardson of Casper; Jay and Frances Holland of Montgomery, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Rod is preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Helen Curran Person and Joseph and Ethal Mae Foster Brown. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St. in Fort Collins. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, in Albin, Wyo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Association or the Rod Person Memorial Scholarship Fund for students desiring to pursue a higher education in automotive skills in care of the Bank of Colorado, attention Ryan Gloden.
