Listen to Obituary
Roberta G. Martinez 1/25/57 – 8/17/2021
Roberta was born in Rawlins, Wyoming to Jose Salome and Celia Martinez. She grew up in Wamsutter, WY. She was the youngest of 7 brothers and sisters. Roberta went to school in Rawlins, where she participated in several activities – from basketball and cheerleading to square dancing. At age 13, she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. She never let this disease define her. She endured many joint replacements throughout her life to keep her as active as possible. She had a feisty spirit and she called it like it was. She had a sense of humor that either made you laugh hysterically or shake your head; which fortunately she passed on to her two kids, Phillip and Crystal. She was close with her daughter and some would say they were extensions of each other. Those who witnessed this understood the strength of that bond. Mom was the sunshine and pillar of our family. She was admired for her long, beautiful braids, her will to fight on against the odds of her severely disabled body, her grace, her courage, her strength, and her faith in God. She knew He would provide the ultimate healing. She was the biggest cheerleader for her kids and their friends growing up. She was the taxi service to drive us all to Rollerland, the Aztlan Center to become NBA stars or to the soccer field to play like Pele. We never achieved that status, of course, but she sure made us all believe we could. She was "mom" to everyone. She loved reading, the Hallmark channel, concerts and driving to the mountains. Her son, Phillip and his wife Kieley, blessed her with three beautiful grandchildren – Lincoln, Jackson and Kinley, who she loved beyond measure. Her little, 4'11 body held so much love, lessons and encouragement. No matter her pain, she always made sure you were taken care of first. Thank you to her healthcare teams and doctors at the Family Medicine Center, OCR and Western Orthopedic for taking care of her.

God called her name and the angels escorted her home on August 17, 2021. Mum, we weren't ready for you to go, but rejoice that you are healed. We love you a bushel and a peck and can't wait to see you on the flip side. Thank you for being our mom.

Roberta is proceeded in death by her parents, Jose and Celia. Her brothers; Leroy, Mike, Eloy.

She is survived by her children; Phillip (Kieley), Crystal (Jed). Grandkids; Lincoln, Jackson, Kinley and Keegan. Grandpups, who she loved dearly: Cleo, Rocky (aka Roger) and Brooklyn. Two brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews. How lucky we all were to have been blessed by her life.
