Listen to Obituary
Robert E. Schmick, 92, of Fort Collins, passed away November 22, 2024. He was born in Windsor, Colorado on April 24, 1932, to August and Grace Schmick.

Bob attended CSU until his father was killed on the family farm. He left school to run the farm in Johnstown, Colorado.

He married his school mate, Lucille Ashcraft on September 27, 1953. They enjoyed many years together. They enjoyed dancing at the Century Club in Fort Collins. Las Vegas junket vacations were something many from Fort Collins attended with them.

After ending his farming career, he and Lucille moved to Fort Collins where he eventually began building houses. Bob partnered with Bill Vigor for 17 years, operating Schmick & Vigor Construction. They started Country Club Estates on Bill's grandparent's Lindenmeier Farm. The business continued building four plexes, apartment complexes and high-rise buildings, including Park Lane Towers, which was the first high rise apartment building in Fort Collins.

After semi-retirement, Bob restored vintage cars, Thunderbirds, Lincolns, a Mad Man Muntz Jet and others. Many vehicles were sold at Barrett Jackson Auctions. Spending time in Arizona, he and Lucille purchased a townhome in Scottsdale. They lived parttime in Arizona for years.

Bob enjoyed boating, racing boats and go carts. He enjoyed the holidays, making his family fudge for friends. He enjoyed life, his friends and family and lived to the fullest.

Robert enjoyed having a relationship with Martha King of Fort Collins after his wife's death. They spent time in Arizona and her family was welcoming to Bob and his daughter.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Kendra Schmick and many nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held.
