Robert Bob Roper born in Grand Junction, Colorado on December 25, 1929, died in Fort Collins on February 9, 2011 after a long illness. As he wished, he died at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary and six children: Randy Roper Pam, Debra Jensen Keld, Cheryl Richards Javi Gomez, Sydney Wolf John Howell, Laura Okada Lance, and Jaial Amrit, plus 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Bob had a rewarding career as a management consultant in the shipbuilding industry, for financial institutions and the job corps among others. He wrote proposals and management systems which he instituted in shipyards on coasts from Oregon to Maine and abroad. Bob was an avid scholar of history and philosophy and a gifted writer and speaker. He was well respected by his peers for his many contributions to industry. All will miss his brilliant mind, humor and wise council even as we treasure his written novels, essays and the beautiful poetry he left for us. There will be a celebration of life for friends and family at the Roper home in Fort Collins on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2:00 PM. A special thank you is due to Dr. James Darrisaw and Dr. William Lopez for their compassionate care. Memorial Contributions can be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort collins, Colorado 80524. We thank their staff for the kindness and the expert comfort - care that made Bob's last months the best they could be.
