Listen to Obituary
Robert "Bob or Butch" Ruben Maciel, 82, of Windsor, Colorado passed away at his home on May 29, 2026. Robert was born on February 5, 1944, in Richmond, California to Pete and Frances Maciel.

He graduated from high school, then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on November 2, 1964. On March 27, 1965, he married the love of his life, Alicia E. Blanco. Together they welcomed their daughter, Jacqueline M. Maciel, on June 2, 1965.

Robert proudly served his country for four years in the Marine Corps. During his service, he earned recognition as Platoon Honorman, Blues Award and achieved All-Marine honors in both basketball and football. He was honorably discharged on November 1, 1968.

Following the death of his brother, Peter Maciel, Robert returned home to be with his family.

He continued his education at Regis University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics in June 1983.

Robert devoted his professional career to serving others as a human resources advocate, supervisor, and director with Eastman Kodak. Throughout his years there, he built lasting friendships with colleagues and made a meaningful impact on countless lives. His work brought him tremendous fulfillment and remained a source of pride long after his retirement. In 2000, he stepped away from his career to become the fulltime caregiver for his wife as she battled multiple sclerosis. During this time, he also mentored students as a volunteer advisor through the Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP) at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He took great pride in his students and remained in contact with many of them throughout his life.

Robert's love of sports extended far beyond his years in the Marines. He enjoyed participating in numerous basketball tournaments and spending time on the golf course. His passion for athletics was passed down through generations. He coached, encouraged, and supported his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in football, basketball, track and field, soccer, volleyball, swimming, and tennis. Few things brought him greater joy than cheering from the sidelines, even in different states.

He also cherished traveling with family and friends to Albuquerque, Chicago, Mazatlán, Reno, Mesquite, and St. Louis.

Robert will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, his dedication to serving others, his love of sports, his generosity towards numerous non-profit organizations, and the countless lives he touched.

Robert is survived by his sister, Veronica Maciel; his daughter, Jacqueline Maciel-Mollendor; his grandchildren, Kale McShane (Lisa Hughes), Adrielle Ornelas (Andrew Ornelas), and Mia Mollendor; and his great-grandchildren, Aven and Amelia Ornelas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Frances Maciel; his brothers, Joseph, Nolan, and Peter Maciel Jr.; and his beloved wife, Alicia E. Maciel.

Family and friends are invited to attend and share in remembering the legacy he leaves behind.
