Bob Kenney, 78, of Fort Collins, died peacefully at home on Jan. 22, 2006. Robert "Bob" Kenney was born Aug. 9, 1927 to Mr. and Mrs. William Ethel Kenney in McCook, Neb. Mr. Kenney attended both public and Catholic schools in McCook and Hastings, Neb., after which he joined the Navy to fight in World War II, where he was stationed on Guam in the South Pacific. He was employed as a union pipefitter for Natkin Company until his retirement. After he retired, he enjoyed square dancing, wintering at their home in Apache Junction, Ariz., RV-ing and Nebraska football. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for nearly 45 years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia; daughters, Jo Jerry McDonnell and Susan Kenney; grandchildren, Michelle Allan Schell, Charlie Poole, Katie McKinzie and Jon McDonnell, all of Fort Collins; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen Victor Haarberg, of Dallas, Texas; two nieces, Cathy Jack Kelcher, of Dallas, and Brenda Ron Pfeiffer, of Memphis, Tenn.; one nephew, Jon Reita Haarberg, of Wauneta, Neb.; and his best friend of nearly 60 years, Pete Rothfuss. He was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest daughter, Sandra Poole, in 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the Larimer Humane Society in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524. A prayer vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Don Willette will officiate. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. He will be missed immensely.
