Robert "Bob" Hollen, born October 10, 1921 in Dayton, Ohio to Lee T and Hazel Irene Crooks Hollen passed away on June 15 2009 in Fort Collins, Colorado. He served as a machinist mate in the U S Coast Guard during WWII with the Pacific Fleet and was part of the invasion of Okinawa. Bob's early occupation after the war was that of an insurance adjuster and later worked as a Security Guard for Dayton Tire and Rubber until his retirement in 1983. Bob married Mary Eleanor Henderson on May 24, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio. Bob and Mary made their home in Kettering, Ohio with their three sons. Following Mary's death in 1984, Bob relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado to be near his son, Gregory and family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary and his sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Mae Hollen Shaffner. He is survived by his 3 sons, Dale S. Hollen MaryAnn of St Mary's City, Maryland, Gregory L. Hollen Laura of Fort Collins, Jeffery L. Hollen Julie of Cape Carteret, North Carolina, cousin Ray Penn Marilyn of India Atlantic, Florida, 3 grandsons, and his long time companion Gail Kennedy of Fort
Collins. An informal memorial gathering will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2009 in Fort Collins at 1224 Juniper Ct. Interment of cremains will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, with an Honor Guard ceremony in Staging Area B on Monday,
July 6, 2009 at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Robert Hollen Memorial Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
