Robert Leslie Feavel died peacefully on July 3, 2023, at his residence in Windsor, Colorado, at the age of 96. Robert (Bob) was born on May 25, 1927, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Leslie Feavel and Edna (Kasten) Feavel. Bob grew up in Appleton and like many of his generation, he volunteered to serve during World War II at the age of 17 by having his dad's signature since he was under 18. He served on two ships, the USS MacLeish a destroyer and the USS Octavia a stores/cargo ship. He was a machinist mate. Upon returning from the war, Bob began developing his skills as a machinist in a local machine shop. His "hands on" abilities served him well his entire life. He could make or fix anything.
While roller skating in 1947, Bob met the love of his life, Sallie Ann Estlund and were married on April 24, 1948, the beginning of an amazing 74-year marriage. Bob and Sallie Feavel lived in Appleton, Wisconsin for a few years welcoming their first two boys, Randy, and David. In 1955, opportunity knocked with a machinist position at the Rocky Flats Plant west of Denver. So, they moved to the wild west and settled in Arvada, Colorado welcoming two more boys Scott and Jay over the next several years. Bob was a devoted husband, and father totally involved and immersed in each of his son's lives as a mentor, coach, and a fervently enthusiastic supporter.
While working, he continued to improve his family's life by getting his GED and college degree. This opened the door for better compensation through management positions. Over his 34 years at Rocky Flats, he significantly affected and influenced the lives of many individuals who were lucky enough to be under his tutelage. As a result, he received many accolades and management awards for his gifted management skills and style.
Bob loved playing golf with his sons and close-knit friends at many golf venues in Colorado and across this country. He was an avid reader and was very good at crossword puzzles. Bob wholeheartedly supported the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. He was also known for his great Dad jokes.
When Bob and Sallie retired, they traveled to many places to be near children and grandchildren, whom the couple adored. They split their time between Arvada and Midland, Texas for many years.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Sallie in 2022. He is survived by children, Randy (Cindy), David (Michelle), Scott (Angel), and Jay (Valerie), 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He loved them all very much and touched each of their lives deeply. He will be missed greatly.
He will be missed dearly by all those who knew him.
