Robert (Bob) Haig Ellis, MD, 94, of Fort Collins, passed away November 22, 2022. Bob was born in Starkweather, ND in 1928 to Earl and Lucile Ellis. After attending the University of North Dakota, he received his medical degree from the University of Maryland. Bob was stationed in Germany with the US Army from 1955-1957, achieving the rank of captain. While doing a residency at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, ND, he met his future wife, Grace Edwards, who was receiving her nurses training. Bob and Grace married in 1959.
Bob opened his internal medicine practice in Fort Collins in 1963. He loved being a physician and serving his patients. On closing his practice in 1995, he received many kind words from grateful patients.
Bob was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He was an enthusiastic supporter of CSU and UND athletics. He was a lifelong Methodist, attending the First Methodist Church in Fort Collins since 1963.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, his daughters Jennifer (Leslie) of Denver and Stephanie of Fort Collins, his son Jeffrey (Sheridan) of Winfield IL, and granddaughter Annalyse, currently studying in Scotland. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Gordon and sisters Dorothy, Berniece, and Lorraine.
Services will be held 10 am, Saturday, May 13, 2023 at First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover Street. The service will be live streamed at
