Listen to Obituary
Robert Dean Thompson, 65, of Fort Collins, CO died on November 15, 2021. Bob was born in Dodge City, KS, the son of Dwight and Lora Ann. When Bob was still a toddler, the family moved to Colorado, where he and his siblings would grow up. Though he may have been born in Kansas, Bob was a Coloradan through and through. He had a deep passion for Colorado history and the outdoors. Throughout his life, one would often find Bob, hunting, fishing, camping, or riding a motorcycle. He found joy in sharing his appreciation and knowledge of the outdoors with others, and in doing so, created a lifetime of memories.

Bob was married for 34 years and had a daughter. His family will forever be grateful for his love, his drive to take care of others, and for his motivation to create meaningful experiences together. Whether it was trips, camping adventures, parties, or eventful family barbecues, he made time together memorable. Bob was always ready with a joke, a story, or a fact. Bob will be remembered as adventurous and an entertainer by his family and friends.

Bob was creative and talented, even his doodles were impressive. He was always building or making something. Bob had a knack for details and understanding how things worked. This led him to a long career in construction safety management and property maintenance. Bob valued his relationships with his colleagues and developed lifelong friendships along the way.

He is survived by his daughter, son-in-law, ex-wife, siblings, siblings-in-law, and other family members who loved him. His memory will be kept alive by his family, girlfriend, and friends who will continue to tell stories about "Mountain Bob," "Bob of the Woods," "Bobby the Torch," and "Shiner Bob." (The man was not lacking in nicknames!)

Anyone who knew Bob will tell you that his most treasured possessions were the relationships he had. He loved a long chat on a patio or a long motorcycle ride with friends. Please honor his memory by continuing to do the things that meant the most to him.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
