Listen to Obituary
Dr. Robert Marion Conlon Jr. passed away peacefully in Fort Collins on the evening of October 15, 2025, at the age of 94. Known for his infectious laugh, joyful spirit, and generosity he dedicated his life to caring for others as a respected ENT surgeon. He cherished the love of
family, friends and his ever faithful dogs.

Born on August 12, 1931, in New Orleans, LA to Rosalie Dugan and Robert Conlon Sr., Bob's early life took him across the country with his father's career before the family finally settled in Indianapolis. He attended Joan of Arc Catholic School and graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1950 as Senior Class President. He went on to attend Indiana University competing as a sprinter on the Hoosier Track Team. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi and earned early acceptance into medical school after only three years. He graduated from Indiana University as a Doctor of Medicine in 1957. At IU Bob met the love of his life, Grace Hendricks. They were married in 1955. They would go on to have many happy decades together, recently celebrating 70 years of marriage in June of 2025.

Bob's medical career was both long and distinguished. After serving under the Berry Plan at IU he completed his internship at LSU and residency at Indiana University. He was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Air Force and served at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, WA. It was during these early years of marriage that Bob and Grace welcomed their growing family: Michael, Michelle, Nanette, Lisa, and Sean.

In 1966, drawn by the promise of 300 days of sunshine per year, Bob and Grace made Fort Collins their home. He founded Alpha ENT as the first otolaryngologist in Northern Colorado and Wyoming. His outpatient surgery center was the first such free standing facility in Ft. Collins. Through decades of practice, he cared for thousands of patients with skill, compassion, and a genuine belief that medicine was both a science and a calling.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He treasured the camaraderie of many hunting buddies. His love of exploration extended far beyond Colorado's borders. Together with Grace, family, and friends, he traveled the world from the beaches of Mexico to the rugged emerald landscapes of his family's ancestral homeland, Ireland. Bob hunted and fished on multiple continents bringing back many treasured trophies. He was a fixture in the Ft. Collins running community and finished multiple marathons including Boston twice. Wherever he went, Bob carried his signature mix of curiosity, humor, and gratitude, embracing each journey as another gift from God.

A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Bob lived his faith with humility and joy. He shared the Good Word through both action and service as a proud member of The Gideons International and Hope Community Church.

Bob is survived by his wife, Grace; his brother, Tim (Mary Beth); his children Michael Conlon, Michelle Conlon, Nanette (Dr. Eric) Young, Lisa (Tom) Reehorst, and Dr. Sean (Melissa) Conlon; and his thirteen grandchildren: Lauren (John), Adrienne (Dan), Alexandra (Torrey), Elizabeth,
Ryan, Nicole (Nathan), Jessica (Wesley), Matthew, Megan (Sebastian), Shannan (Ryne), Dr. Jack, Kevin, and Thomas; along with four, but soon to be six, great-grandchildren.

Bob's life was one of devotion to God, to family, to healing, and to the simple beauty of every day. His laughter, wisdom, and unwavering faith will continue to echo through the lives of those he loved and healed.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care that Bob received during his time at Centre Avenue Health and Rehab.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Discovery Fellowship Church, 6630 Brittany Drive, Fort Collins, Colorado, with a brief reception to follow. A private family graveside service will be held.
