Robert Aaron Baxley, Jr. passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his home while being cared for by his loving Wife, Diana, and his 2 children. Throughout his last days, he was surrounded by loved ones while listening and singing to "Golden Oldies".
Robert was born in Jacksonville, Florida, April 18, 1943, to Robert Aaron Baxley, Sr. and Virginia Jeanette (Butler) Baxley. He grew up in Greeley, Colorado and graduated from Greeley HIgh School in 1961. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served until 1963. Robert married Beverly Ann Loyd on June 3, 1963, in Fort Collins, Colorado. During their 50 years of marriage, Robert had many jobs, but his employment with the United States Post Office, which started in Fort Collins, CO, led them and their 2 children to Black Hawk, CO (Postmaster), Longmont, and Greeley (Assistant Postmaster). They loved to host holiday gatherings and game nights. Robert retired from the United States Post Office and he and Beverly moved back to Laporte, CO, where they lived and cared for Bev's Mother, Marie Loyd. While in Laporte he kept himself busy by exploring many different jobs including, Independent Travel Agent, Customer Service Representative with Center Partners, as well as, a Contracted Rural Route Mail Carrier for Northern Colorado. Robert was a member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors, Greeley Lyons Club and Toastmasters Club. Robert and Bev shared 50 beautiful and adventurous years together with their 2 children, and 5 grandchildren; Adam, Sean, Adrianna, Krue and Kian; until Beverly's death from Pancreatic Cancer on May 2, 2013.
After Bev's passing, Robert kept busy helping wherever and whenever he was needed. He continued to enjoy his hobbies, which included woodworking, gardening, building/remodeling, bowling and watching his favorite Colorado sports teams. He continued to volunteer at the Bellvue Grange where he met Diana. Diana worked for Volunteers of America as the Nutrition Coordinator and visited once a week with food for Grange Members. After dating off and on, Robert and Diana got engaged on April 4, 2015 and married October 10, 2015, in Fort Collins, CO. They lived in Laporte, CO and then moved to Windsor, CO. Robert and Diana remained active at the Bellvue Grange and spent their time attending and supporting the many events and activities of their combined grandchildren and great nieces. Robert had renewed his Christian Faith after Bev's death and continued to attend Immanuel Christian Reform Church with Diana. Robert had friends from all stages of his life of which he enjoyed sharing stories and adventures. He loved listening and dancing to "Golden Oldies" music.
Robert is survived by his wife, Diana, his Son Robert A Baxley, III (Laura), his Daughter Brenda Rotter (Michael), Melissa and Scot Weber, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; his siblings; Russ Baxley, G. Benjamin Baxley (Tere), Julie (Baxley) Rinella; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly (Loyd) Baxley; his parents, and Todd Toussaint.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 16th, 2025 at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, 1900 S. Taft Hill Rd, Fort Collins, Co. Family and friends are invited to wear Hawaiian attire to Celebrate Robert. For those unable to attend in person the service will be streamed on Youtube and on
