Listen to Obituary
Richard "Corky" Villars Tamlin was born in LaPorte, Colorado, on March 15, 1929, to Henry V. Tamlin and Bessie M. (Villars) Tamlin. Richard passed away on September 17, 2017, following a short illness.

Richard grew up in LaPorte and Bellvue, Colorado, attending Cache la Poudre schools through graduation. He married Maxine Doris Nix on September 30, 1950, and they made LaPorte and the Fort Collins area their home, adding a daughter and son to their family. During his marriage, Richard took pride in his roles as husband, father, and provider.

Richard was especially proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War, and in May of 2016 he was awarded the Ambassador for Peace medal. Following his service, he was employed by the Wyoming Game and Fish, Ideal Basic Industries, and CSU. After retirement, he worked part-time for several years at the Downtown Ace Hardware store.
Richard was an avid fisherman and hunter. He liked to read westerns and books about fishing, trapping and hunting. He enjoyed tying flies for fishing, making walking sticks, dining out for breakfast, and most importantly spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him great joy. Richard was a member of the Meadowlark Church of Christ.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Becky Tamlin of Fort Collins, and son, Jerry "Bob" Tamlin (Susan) of Johnstown; grandchildren, Jeremy Tamlin (Brooke), Tandi McBlair, Traci Sample (Darby), and Betsy Sparling (Keith); great grandchildren, Kalee, Makenna, Elijah, Abigail, Cale, Sadie, Breckan, and Cora; and sister, Betty Hout of Bellvue, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine; grandson, Christopher Tamlin; parents, Henry and Bessie Tamlin; and brothers, Victor, Bert, Jack, Robert, and Lee.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Meadowlark Church of Christ, 2810 Meadowlark Avenue, Fort Collins, CO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
