Richard Louis Smith

Richard "Dick" Louis Smith passed away Thursday, April 4 2019. Richard was born in 1927 in Cortland, NY. He attended Groton High School in NY. He enlisted in the Army in 1945. After serving, he attended Rochester Institute of Technology and obtained a Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Richard met Dorothy Belo in college and married her in 1952. He worked for IBM for 35 years. They moved to Rochester, Minnesota in 1958, where they raised their three sons. The family built a cabin in Grand Marais, MN that Richard designed. He was a member of Evangel Methodist Church in Rochester.

Dorothy preceded him in passing in April 3, 2018. Richard is survived by his three sons, Douglas Smith in Kalispell, MT, David Smith in Redlands, CA, and Bradley Smith in Fort Collins, CO. Grandchildren includes Laura Smith, Jessica Shawcross, Kelly Smith, Emmett Smith and Jacob Smith. Also a Great Grandson, Lawrence Shawcross.
