Richard "Dick" Mondragon, 92, of Fort Collins, passed away on August 10, 2011 at McKee Medical Center, Pathways Hospice Unit. Mr. Mondragon was born October 31, 1918 in Fort Collins to Frank Mondragon and Mary Apodaca Mondragon. Richard "Dick" married Lily R. Gallegos on November 30, 1938 in Fort Collins. Dick lived a full and colorful life. He worked in C.C. Camps during the depression in Colorado Springs and Ft. Collins. Dick helped in the construction of the tunnels that feeds water to Horsetooth Reservoir. He founded and owned Dick's Trash Hauling in 1951 and was active within the business until 2007. He loved fishing, gardening, friends and especially his family. Survivors include his daughter, Julie Irene Royball and husband, Kenneth of Stockton, California; his son, Tom Lee Mondragon and wife, Eleanor of Ft. Collins;; a sister, Martha Gallegos of Ft. Collins, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Preceding Dick in death are his parents; wife, Lily; a son, Richard "Butch" Mondragon; four brothers, Lloyd, Leonard, Sal, and Fred Mondragon; three sisters, Louise Aragon, Edith Ayala and Mary Labadie, and a grandson, Justin Mondragon. A Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Father Damian de la Cruz, C.R. will officiate the service. Those who desire may view Mr. Mondragon, 12 – 4 pm, Monday, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
