Richard A. Moeller passed away Feb. 14, 2007, after losing his battle with cancer. Richard was born April 24, 1930, in Kit Carson to Albert and Evelyn Moeller. Richard graduated from Paonia High School in 1948, and received his bachelor's degree from Colorado A&M CSU in 1953. He married his bride the same year before entering the U.S. Army for a two-year tour of duty. Upon his return home, he returned to Colorado A&M to obtain his master's degree. Richard made his career in the National Park Service, working in Rocky Mountain. National Park, Wupatki National Monument, Bryce Canyon National Park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and finally the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He retired in 1985 and returned to Fort Collins. Richard was a consummate professional and a dedicated public servant. He had a passionate love of the outdoors and his family, to whom he always was a source of inspiration and strength. He will be dearly missed by his wife Virginia; his son Matt of Fort Collins; his daughter and son-in-law Karin and John Jones of Harrisburg, Neb., his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Renee of Charleston, S.C., and his wonderful grandchildren Jennifer, Brady, Shaun, Alyson, Emily and Madison. His parents and his sister, Paula, preceded him in death. Memorials to Hospice of Larimer County can be sent in his name to Bohlender's Funeral Chapel in Fort Collins.
