Richard Lee Marsh, 82, of Fort Collins, died October 22, 2009 at Poudre Valley Hospital. Mr. Marsh was born October 28, 1926 in Windsor, Colo., to John "Jack" Marsh and Mayme "Sorrels" Marsh. Richard married Dorothy "Dot" Douglass on March 30, 1947 in St Francis, Kansas. Mr. Marsh worked as a heavy equipment operator for Morrison-Knutson helping build the Grand Coulee Dam and later in life with Larimer County. He served in the Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Saratoga in the Pacific. He loved to eat at two restaurants, Ever Open and El Burrito. Richard loved working on cars and loved helping friends and family with theirs. Survivors include his sons, Jerry Nancine Marsh of Windsor, and Dean Marsh of Fort Collins; brother, Tom "Swampy" Marsh of Fort Collins; three grandchildren, Melissa Kurt Jeffryes, Tiffanie Mike Midkiff, and Tyler Brittani Haines; and six great grandchildren, Dylan Jeffryes, Kaitlyn, Mikel, and Hunter Midkiff, Tommy and Brylee Haines. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents, Jack and Mayme Marsh; a brother, Bob Marsh, of Anchorage, Alaska, and a grandson, Travis Marsh of Windsor. A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Plymouth Congregational Church, 916 W. Prospect, Fort Collins. The Rev. Hal Chorpenning will officiate the service. A Private Graveside at Grandview Cemetery will take place at a later date.
