Richard "Dick" Morger, 70, died April 23, 2006, at his home near Masonville. He was born May 20, 1935, in Fort Collins, to Melvin Morger and Undine Barnhart Morger. He grew up near Bellevue and west Fort Collins and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1954. Richard lived in Arvada for 18 years, where he owned Morger Welding. In 1985, he moved back to Fort Collins and worked mainly in construction at various sites in Colorado and southern Wyoming. For the past six years, he was a superintendent for Weinland Construction in Loveland. On Oct. 4, 1999, he married Janet Keup, of Loveland, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Richard was always active, preferring to work and relax in the outdoors. He had a love of animals and most recently was raising a few buffalo. He was a NASCAR and bullriding fan and found pleasure in attending those events. RV travel was another enjoyment. He liked always having a project and was known for being ready to help others in any way. Richard is survived by his wife, Janet; his son, Rick Morger, and wife, Barb, of Arvada; grandchildren, Chad and Samantha; stepsons, Mark Peterson and wife, Holly, of Fort Collins, Erik Peterson, of Rochester, N.Y., and Alan Peterson and wife, Elaine, of Colorado Springs; stepdaughter, Kristin Irwin and husband, Douglas, of Eaton; and 11 step grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Margie and husband, Neil Jorgenson, of Fort Collins, Margaret and husband, Bill Heustis, of LaPorte and Shirley Jordan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at Mountain Range Church, 3601 S. Shields St. Interment at a later date at Grandview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society of the Larimer Humane Society in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524.
