Listen to Obituary
Richard W. Cary died of natural causes in his home in Point Venture, Texas on December 16, 2022 at the age of 58. He was born, the fourth of four sons, to Kenneth E. and Mildred I. Cary in Ft. Collins Colorado on August 8, 1964. Rich attended Ft. Collins public schools and graduated from Poudre High School with the class of 1982. Following high school, he worked for several years at the Cedarwood Plaza King Soopers and Beaver's Market, forming important friendships along the way, before going to work for the Home Depot.

Always something of a loner, he never married and never had children. His search for his "place" in the world eventually led him to travel to and live in the Central American country of Belize for several months. Recharged by this experience, he returned to the United States where he found his way to the city of Austin, Texas, where he finally found his "place", eventually settling in the Texas Hill Country northwest of Austin. He again worked for the Home Depot and found lasting friendships with several coworkers, some of whom shared his passion for the game of Dungeons and Dragons. He also found a new passion following the purchase of a Mazda Miata sports car. His love of driving this car led him to join the Tejas Miatas car club. Again, making new friends along the way and enjoying many club activities, all of which involved driving the cars they all loved.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mildred, one brother, Keith E. Cary and one niece, Arnetta K. Cary. He is survived by his brothers Steven K. Cary (Connie), Thomas L. Cary (Karen), sister-in-law Marilyn Cary, cousins Dean Davis (Vicky) and Dale Davis (Jennifer) and extended family around the country.

A graveside remembrance and internment will occur at Roselawn Cemetery 2718 East Mulberry in Ft. Collins Colorado at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 12, 2023.
