Rhinnie Whitman, 76, of Windsor, died February 26, 2014 at his home. Rhinnie was born April 20, 1937 in Windsor, Colorado to George and Katie Whitman. Rhinnie grew up on a farm in Wellington. Farming with his father and brothers. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1955. Rhinnie married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Whitman, the love of his life on November 24, 1956 in Fort Collins. He worked for Markley Motors and owned and operated service stations in Fort Collins. He then went to work for Kodak as an electrical mechanic retiring in 1991. In retirement he started Rhinnie's Small Engine and Golf Cart Sales and Repair with his sons, Riney RJ and Randy. Rhinnie enjoyed dancing and listening to Polka and old country music. He would dance to anything. Rhinnie always loved time spent with friends and family. He always enjoyed car racing and he valued the time spent being involved in his sons racing. Rhinnie always supported his kids, Grandkids and great Grandkids in all their events, and was on the sidelines quietly rooting them on. Rhinnie was a man who valued hard work, persistence and dedication and that was apparent in his everyday life but happiness and contentedness was above all. He always found solace while working on his tractor and will be in peace moving dirt Survivors include his wife, Ruth; son, Randy Andrea Whitman of Fort Collins; daughter, Robin Russell Carter of Fort Collins, brothers, John Whitman of Wellington; sisters, Margaret Hilgenberg of Loveland; step sister, Delores Yeager of Montana; three grandchildren, Brianne Jason Kraft, Kelsey Jeff Moore and Gunnar Whitman; and five great-grandchildren. Preceding Rhinnie in death are his son, Riney Whitman and brother, Robert Whitman. A Memorial Service will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
