Raymond L. Ortiz, Sr.

Raymond L. Ortiz, Sr., 87, of Fort Collins, died July 19, 2010 at his home. Raymond died close to the ones he loved! Mr. Ortiz was born August 9, 1922 in Jalisco, Mexico to Guiermo and Jesusita "Valasquez" Ortiz. Raymond married Martha Labadie. Mr. Ortiz lived most of his life in the Fort Collins area, growing up in Owl Canyon. He was a WWII Army Veteran. Raymond was a long time employee of the Armstrong Hotel, retiring after 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, drag races and listening to the radio station every Sunday. He enjoyed jazz and Mexican music. He also played guitar in a band in his younger days. Survivors include his wife, Martha; son, Raymond Ortiz, Jr. and his wife Donna, and Gene Ortiz; daughters, Jessica Ortiz, and Geralyn Ortiz all of Fort Collins, sisters, Eleanor Burnett and Carmella Baker both of Fort Collins and Delores Exum of Peragu, Arkansas, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Those who desire may view Mr. Ortiz from 12 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday and 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
