RAYMOND F. LEWIS – 1921 TO 2014 Raymond Frederick Lewis, 92, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at home in Fort Collins, Colorado. Ray was born to Raymond and Nettie Lewis on August 17, 1921 in Highland Park, New Jersey. Ray lived and raised his family in Edison, New Jersey for many years before relocating to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1992. He graduated from Highland Park High School and subsequently enlisted in the United States Airforce Aviation Cadet Program and it was there he obtained his pilot's license. As a young man, Ray was a professional union musician who played the drums and vibra harp with the Lou Jacobs Big Band Orchestra. Later in life he also enjoyed playing the organ. He was employed with Ford Motor Company for 33 years and retired from his career as Distribution Manager of the NY/Eastern Region. Even at the age of 90, Ray was an avid golfer, enjoyed numerous family vacations and took much pride in gardening and landscaping around the home. Ray's love for socializing and good conversation was evident with many good friends, but most of all his family. Over the years he contributed his time as a Boy Scout leader, Meals on Wheels volunteer and with the Kiwanis Club of Poudre Golden K. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Adeline R. Lewis Umbehauer; his three sons, Raymond F Lewis, Jr. of Millersville, Maryland, Ronald C. Lewis and his wife, Linda of Fort Collins, Colorado and Scott D. Lewis and his wife, Patricia of Edison, New Jersey. Ray has six grandchildren, Benett, Tara, Michael, Rylund, Alyson and Dayna as well as five great-grandchildren, Michael, Braelyn, Lee, Logan and Reese. Ray's loving, generous and up-beat personality will always be remembered. His friendly smile will be greatly missed. The kindness of his heart touched so many and will stay with us all forever.
