Ray M. Mayes, 72, of Fort Collins passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at his home. Ray was born July 29, 1940 in Fort Morgan, CO to Alvina and Ray Mayes. Ray grew up and attended schools in the Fort Morgan area. On January 14, 1959, Ray married Norma Jean Welham. Ray and Norma were married for 53 years. Ray was a heavy equipment operator for most of his life. He was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed the challenge of fixing and building machines and equipment throughout his life. He also enjoyed camping, boating and fishing in his younger years, spending many weekends with family and friends enjoying the Colorado outdoors. Ray loved spending time with his grandsons Dylan and Logan attending their hockey games and school activities.
Ray is survived by his wife Norma Jean; daughter Sheila Bohlender, her husband Steve Bohlender and grandchildren, Dylan and Logan, all of Greeley; brothers, Robert of Greeley; Tom Audra of Broomfield, CO; John, of Tennessee; sisters, Betty Ben Wagner, Gladys Dan Nelson, all of Evans, CO.
