Raul C. Garza, 63, a long time resident of Fort Collins, Colorado graduated peacefully from earth to heaven on December 30, 2014 surrounded by his loved ones.
Raul was born on June 4, 1951 in Lamesa TX., to Cesar and Ofelia Garza and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1965. He married the love of his life and partner in crime, Madelena Cardona on March 28, 1970. Raul was a truck driver for 19 years and retired in 1988, however continued being a handy man and mechanic. If Raul wasn't under the hood of a car, or fixing something, he would be seen fishing, hunting, camping, or sailing his boat at Horsetooth Reservoir with his family and friends. Raul was a hardcore Broncos Fan and was always trying to convert everyone to like them. He loved to have breakfast at Lupitas Mexican Restaurant and Ever Open Café with his best friend Frank. He was also known as being a prankster; his goal was to always make sure he had everyone in the room laughing with a comical joke or story from the good old days. Raul never knew a stranger and always was willing to help anyone in need. He will be missed dearly by everyone.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Madelena Garza; two daughters, Norma Garza and Jennifer Garza, both of Fort Collins; one son, Fabian (Belan) Romero of Broomfield CO; his grandchildren: Gabriel (Kaitlin) Garza, Jose Luis Gomez-Garza, Kendra and Ivan Garza, Ysabel Gonzalez, Chris (Gabriela) Cooper, Austin Romero, and Gianna Romero; his great grandchildren, Neaveh and Victoria Romero, and Kaden Hutchinson; two sisters, Nelda (Juan) Madrid and Esmeralda (Alfredo) Dominguez both of Fort Collins; various nephews and nieces; best friend, Frank Valencia, other good friends and neighbors, Terry, Buddy, Elizabeth, Carlos and Ramon, and the various adopted grandchildren that he met and loved thought out the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cesar A Garza and Ofelia C Garza; brothers, Cesar, Oscar Augustine Garza; his sister, Sylvia Cantu; and his Grandfather, Rafael Castaneda.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel at 12:00 noon. Pastor Danny Olivares will officiate. A reception will follow at Northside Aztlan Community Center, 112 E. Willow Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524 at 1:30 pm.
