Rachel Konrade Lind, 89, of Fort Collins passed away December 24, 2009 at a local nursing home. She was born July 25, 1920 in rural Ft. Collins, the sixth of seven children to George and Eva Konrade. Rachel received her education in Fort Collins through the 9th grade and worked in the fields and orchards with her siblings as most Germans from Russia did when they migrated to the U.S.A. Rachel married Alexander A. Lind on September 22, 1937 in Windsor, Colorado. They farmed with Alex's father North of Windsor. Rachel then worked at the bakery in Windsor and Ehrlich's Clothing till they moved to Fort Collins. She then worked at Colorado State University until her retirement. Survivors include her two sons, Ted Lind of Fort Collins, Mike Lind of Lingle, Wyoming; a daughter, Marlene Rothe of Sterling, Colorado; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding Rachel in death are her parents, husband, her siblings, George, Mary, Martin, Leona, Renz, Rhinnie, Herman, and an infant sister; a grandchild, Kathy Jo Rothe, and a great-grandchild, Blake Jones. A Funeral Service will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery inWindsor. Pastor Eugene Zeller will officiate at the services.
