Robert Mark Smith, known to his loved ones as Mark, passed away on September 28, 2024. He was 68.

Mark was born on April 17, 1956, in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he spent his life surrounded by family, friends, and the beauty of the community he cherished.

Mark grew up in Fort Collins and attended Barton elementary school, Lesher junior high, and Fort Collins high school ('74). Mark continued his education by earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Colorado. His love for Fort Collins stayed with him throughout his life, especially enjoying bike rides through town and frequent visits to the CSU dog park, where he found joy and connection in nature and with friends and his beloved dogs.

Mark had a long and fulfilling career with Steele's Market, where he began as a sacker and worked his way up to human resources management for various Steele's stores. After his time with Steele's, Mark pursued additional careers in the banking and jewelry industries.

Mark's greatest passion was his dogs. Over the years, Roofus, Jake, and Shady were his loyal companions, sharing in his adventures and offering unconditional love. He had a unique bond with each of them and cherished their presence in his life.

Mark is survived by his son, Evan Smith; daughter, Katie Smith; and sister, Linda Ingram (Bill). He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Shirley Smith; his brothers, Steve and Ron Smith; and his beloved wife, Pam Smith.

Mark's family and friends will forever remember him for his kind spirit, hilarious sense of humor, his love of antiques, and his deep connection to the community of Fort Collins. He will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite dog rescue.
