Peter Jackman Standard, M.D., born March 19 ,1941 in Macomb, Illinois passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Poudre Valley Hospital due to complications related to stage three lung cancer.
Son of William and Betsy Standard, and brother of William Perry Standard, he completed Medical School at St. Louis University in 1966, followed by residency training in Urology at the University of Missouri. In 1975, after fulfilling his term with the US Army, he moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. He practiced medicine in Northern Colorado for 30 years, retiring in 2005 after a long and accomplished career. Peter remained in Fort Collins throughout his retirement, playing golf, fishing with his friends and son, attending his grandchildren's events, and reading next to his beloved husky, Dino. Over the years, Peter generously supported many charities and causes including the Larimer County Human Society, Bikes for Tykes, and was a strong proponent of organ donation.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Standard; son, Judson Standard; niece, Laura Standard; and his two grandchildren, granddaughter, Logan Alexa Standard (age 12), and grandson, Reid Jackson Standard (age 8).

A Celebration of Life event will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. at the Fort Collins Country Club, 1920 Country Club Rd. to honor his memory. At Peter's request, casual attire is REQUIRED, along with a fun story to tell.
