Perry Marvin Marv Wood, 86, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at Good Samaritan Care Center. He was born Jan. 19, 1920, to Thomas and Dot D. Wood in Sentinel, Okla.; the family moved to Colorado in 1923. Marv graduated from LaPorte High School, attended Aggies CSU and served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He was married to Barbara Vergean Williams on Aug. 21, 1942. He worked as a machinist at Gardner Denver, managed a fish hatchery in Nebraska then returned to Fort Collins where he was employed with Forney Industries before becoming co-owner of Fort Collins Nursery until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing near their cabin on the Poudre River, cribbage and grandchildren, being outdoors and his wife's cooking. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church and belonged to the Colorado Nurseryman's Assoc. and Men's Garden Club. Marv was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Minnie and brothers Clifford and Gene Wood. Surviving family members include Vergean, his lifelong mate of 64 years; sons, Don Karen Wood of Nampa, Idaho, George Dianne Wood of Berthoud; daughters, Marcia John Mundell of Bennett, Susan Richard Wood of Santa Fe, N.M., Janet Gary Graves of Windsor and Tina Joel Vosberg of Bellview. There are 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Private interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rocky Mountain Alzheimer's Association, First Baptist Church, or charity of choice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
