Listen to Obituary
Peggy Jo Lambert Rice passed away peacefully on June 20, 2021 at Poudre Valley Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born in Stromsburg, Nebraska to Morgan and Vivian (Hans) Lambert on September 20, 1937. She spent the majority of her childhood in Scottbluff, Nebraska and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. Peggy completed her college education at Denver University with a degree in Business.
Peggy met a rodeo cowboy, Jerry Rice, at the barn where they boarded their horses. A romance blossomed and marriage followed soon thereafter. They moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to begin raising their beautiful family. Peggy was truly blessed with four children, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A loving family was her passion and number one priority in life.
Peggy retired from Hewlett Packard after working for more than thirty years as a contracts administrator in Loveland and Fort Collins, Colorado and Exeter, New Hampshire.
Peggy was an animal lover throughout her life. Horses, dogs and cats were always a big part of the Rice Family. The love and respect for all animals in this world was passed onto her children and into the hearts of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Peggy was very proud of her Swedish heritage and she spent countless hours with friends and family researching her ancestry. We have been left with volumes of very interesting and detailed information from the Rice, Lambert and Hans Families.
Peggy was very strong in her Catholic faith and thoroughly enjoyed St. Joseph Catholic Church where she has been a member for several years.
Peggy leaves behind her children; Doug (Marisa) Rice, Mike (Lisa) Rice, Robin Miller, and Kim (Greg) Farrand; grandchildren: Brandon Rice, Aaron (Ria) Rice, Heather (Sam) Rice, Nick Rice, Lauren Rice, Mandy (Jonathan) Tanner, Molly Farrand, Matt Farrand, Brooke (Jared) Larson, Allie Miller; great grandchildren: Emmaline Rice, Hazel Rice, Reagan Tanner, and Clara Tanner; sister: Pasty Miehi; and her beloved cocker spaniel, Logan. She is proceeded in death by her parents and Jerry Rice.
A rosary ceremony will be held at 7:00 PM on the evening of Thursday, July 15th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 300 West Mountain Avenue, Fort Collins, CO. The Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Peggy's life will be held at 9:00 AM Friday on the morning of July 16th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with an interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery.
