Paula Beuck Franz died November 5, 2009 in Fort Collins. She was 92 years old. She was born on March 30, 1917 in Denver, Colorado to Fred and Margaret Beuck. The second of five children, she was raised in Agate, Colorado. Paula attended Colorado State University, graduating in 1939 with a degree in Home Economics as a dietician. Following graduation she served a dietetic internship at Harper Hospital in Detroit, Michigan and then worked in Omaha, Nebraska for two years. She married Lee Franz in January 1942, and they spent the war years in Cheyenne, Wyoming where her husband worked for an airline. The couple had three children all of whom survive her. She is also survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, in 1983, and all four siblings. Paula worked for 14 years at the Colorado State University Library, retiring in 1982. She was always a dedicated volunteer who gave freely of her time to organizations that included 4-H, Extension Club, Colorado Cattlewomen, Waverly Volunteer Fire Department and the Poudre Valley Hospital Blood Bank. According to her family, her life was well lived. Graveside Services will take place at Grandview Cemetery on Thursday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Parkwood Estates, 2201 S. Lemay, Fort Collins.
