Our cherished brother, Paul, died unexpectedly on Sept. 24 near his home in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Paul was born Aug. 16, 1953, in Austin, Minnesota, to Glenn and Della Thompson. Upon graduation from high school in Madison, South Dakota, he attended Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, where he earned an associate of applied science degree in electronics engineering technology. Paul's expertise in electronics allowed him to work in a variety of increasingly demanding positions, including utility lineman, electrical systems technician on "the Big Dig" in Boston and subway (BART) expansion in San Francisco, and management of electrical-control systems in the fossil fuels industry in Wyoming and North Dakota.
Paul enjoyed music (especially blues and jazz), skiing, traveling (particularly road trips on his motorcycles), and spending time with family and friends. Paul possessed a kind soul and generously extended a helping hand to people in need, including complete strangers. Preceding Paul in death were his parents, brothers John and Chuck, and niece Chris. He is survived by sisters Nancy Nordland and Sarah Wolterman, brother Roger Thompson; sister in-law Pam Erstad; his much-loved nephews and nieces: Scott, Martha, Elle, Andy, Nate, Barry and Louise; and numerous cousins.
He will be missed by his family and his many friends.
